Hey Sew Sister x Fluid + Drape - BOWIE - Block Printed Organic Cotton (Indigo Dye)
Say hello to BOWIE! a unique bow block print dress fabric exclusive to Hey Sew Sister and Fluid + Drape drawing from our joint love of bows and block print! Bethany and I bonded after realising how similar our little shops and personalities are and I am so excited that we are able to share this special project with you!
Why is BOWIE special?
Exclusive to Fluid + Drape and Hey Sew Sister - you cannot get this fabric anywhere else!
Bow block design developed by the talented Bethany from Fluid + Drape and hand cut for us.
Traditional botanical indigo dye and hand block printed by artisans in Jaipur using a mud-resist process. First the white fabric is printed with the lined bow design block in the indigo dye. Next, this is stamped over with the bow block in mud before the fabric is dipped into the indigo dye vats. Finally the fabric is washed to remove the mud and the fabric is laid out to dry in the sun.
100% Organic Cotton, lightweight and beautiful.
52”/132cm wide, i.e. wide width! Most block printed cottons on the market are the traditionally narrow width of 42”
Hand printed, dyed and processed so expect little quirks and imperfections which make each piece of fabric unique - this is no mass-produced digital print!

IMPORTANT CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
Wash cold with similar dark colours though preferably on its own (for first few cycles, it is strongly advised that you wash on its own). Use a handful of salt to help set the dye/prevent fading and a delicate machine cycle. As with new jeans, for the first few washes avoid wearing with light colours fabrics or coming into contact with furniture which you are worried about marking since the dye can transfer. Block printing dyes have a slight smell that will fade with washing but if you would like to speed up the process, include a cup of white vinegar when you pre-wash.
