Hey Sew Sister - PIPPA POLKA DOT - Screen Printed Light-midweight Cotton Twill - Plum & (Blush) Pink
Sold by the half metre.
Exclusive to Hey Sew Sister, Pippa Polka Dot is a collection of screen printed dots with each colour way made up of two colours thoughtfully selected by Georgie. The base fabric is a light-midweight cotton twill which has the characteristic tight diagonal weave but also has a crispness to it. I’ve included some tips below on how you can soften the fabric. It’s a versatile weight which makes it suitable for both trousers, skirts as well as dresses, shirts, tops, etc that don’t require a lot of drape or fluidity.
Screen printing is a manual process and in this case, carried out by skilled artisans in Jaipur. After I had sent over my designs, the team produced the stencils required and then got to work with the fabric and ink. Due to the nature of hand printing techniques, please expect irregularities and imperfections which unless major will not be considered defects. There may also be some mud marks on the selvedge due to the rinsing and drying process. In my opinion these add to the charm and remind me that the fabric was printed by man (or woman) rather than by machine!
Please note that there were two batches of the Plum & Pink colourway made and they are very slightly different to each other. One has a slightly paler “blush” pink dot and the other that has a little bit more of a saturated pink dot which I have named “punch” pink.
