Hey Sew Sister - CHERRY BOW - Block Printed Lightweight Cotton
Okay guys, I am so incredibly excited to share with you my new favourite fabric: CHERRY BOW! 😱🍒🎀 Our incredibly talented printer in Jaipur hand carved my digitally-designed cherry bow motif into wooden blocks then working in two steps, printed first the bow/stalks in green then the red cherries onto the pink dyed base fabric.
The cotton is beautifully lightweight, soft and breathable making it perfect for floaty summer makes. As the fabric is so lightweight and dyed in a pale colour, it is almost a little bit sheer. It probably requires nude underwear or lining, depending on your preferences/requirements. In my sample, I am wearing the Picnic Set by Cayden Naughton. The set includes bloomers and if you look closely at my dress, you might be able to just see some of the print from my bloomers underneath. Hopefully this gives you an idea of the opacity/sheerness of the fabric.
This special fabric is hand block printed so please expect irregularities and imperfections - it’s all part of the charm and character of the fabric. Printed by man (or woman), not by machine!
IMPORTANT CARE INFO - It is advised that before you prewash your fabric, soak it in salted cold water for an hour or two. This will help to fortify the dyes and prevent colour fading. When it comes to washing, the fabric should be treated delicately. It should be washed at a low (cold if possible) temperature by hand if possible or using a delicate machine cycle. Avoid rubbing, wringing, etc to prevent physical abrasion of the printing and dye. If you machine wash it at a warm/hot temperature, the dye/print will fade.
Sewing - If you have them, I would recommend using fine pins with such lightweight fabric to avoid visible pin holes :) I use these ones.
