Hey Sew Sister - Bluebell Bubble Dress (FREE PATTERN)
The Bluebell Bubble Dress is an easy-to-sew, fabric efficient and fun-to-wear dress. It features a simple shirred bodice, tie straps and a bubble hem skirt. After taking a few simple measurements, you can draft and cut your rectangle pattern pieces. Bluebell is best made using lightweight woven cottons to balance the ability to shirr and gather the fabric with the fabric having enough structure to hold the fun bubble shape. You could even mix and match the fabric you use for the bodice and the skirt.
This is a draft-your-own style pattern and there are no pattern pieces included, only instructions for measuring and dimensions.
What do I need?
Lightweight woven fabric (you can calculate how much is required after measuring yourself and planning your pattern pieces - sorry you will need to do some maths!)
Matching Thread
Shirring Elastic
Basic sewing kit including removable ink pen.
Fabric
A lightweight woven cotton such as poplin is recommended as this will be easy to gather and shirr whilst having enough structure to hold the bubble hem skirt. You could use other lightweight woven fabrics such as linen, viscose, silk, etc but they might not hold the bubble shape as well. The more drape the fabric has, the droopier the bubble skirt will be.
This pattern is for personal-use only and may not be used for commercial purposes. Thank you!
Please tag @heysewsister.co.uk and #BluebellBubbleDress if you make this dress! I would love to see it :)
