Clash Those Checks!
I wanted to share one of my recent favourite makes with you - a super fun summer dress involving pattern clashing two different check fabrics!
I am really into checks at the moment and especially the idea of incorporating more than one into a garment. The two madras checks I used are from a collection of four that we currently stock. They are all different but use a similar range of colours which makes them perfect for coordinated clashing.
The pattern I used is the Simplicity S9134 in view C though I modified the neckline to make it a rounded square neck (scoop?) which I did by drafting and sewing a facing instead of using bias binding as per the pattern.
Here are the fabrics I used:
A bold and joyful check which is yarn-dyed, meaning that the pattern is woven from individual strands of dyed yarn rather than printed. Soft, lightweight and with a distinctive slightly bumpy texture, this fabric makes a statement whilst being cool and rustic. It would be ideal for making summer dresses, shirts, blouses, skirts, playsuits…all sorts of things :)
Sold by the half metre.
100% Cotton.
Approx. 140cm wide.
Approx. 110gsm.
